In Six Old Carols, each or the six carols stands alone, and each Harp part has the opportunity to play the melody on at least one of the carols. The performance time for Six Old Carols, if played one after another, is about six and a half minutes. The performance time for each carol alone is as follows: Ding Dong! Merrily on High, one minute ten seconds; Blessed Be That Maid Marie, one minute twenty seconds; Oh Holy Child, fifty seconds; Shepherds at the Cradle, one minute; The Bells of Paradise, one minute; and The Coventry Carol, one minute ten seconds. There are several lever or pedal changes in the harp parts.
The arrangement comes with separate copies for First Harp, Second Harp, and Third Harp and an Ensemble Copy showing the three parts together.
