At the end, the counter melody and the Nearer my God to Thee melody are played together, which creates unique enjoyment for this beautiful hymn. It was said that this hymn was played by the musicians on board the Titanic as it sank into the sea. Performance time for Nearer, My God, to Thee is three minutes.
