Description

The words to the original hymn, “Panis Angelicus or “Angelic Bread,” were  written by Saint Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274) for the feast of Corpus Christi.  Cesar Franck’s composition is the most famous setting of these words.  In this arrangement for two pedal harps, each harp part takes a turn to play the melody as well as the accompaniment, and when the melody returns for the second time, Harp 2 repeats it a measure later in a lovely echo pattern over Harp 1. The performance time for Panis Angelicus is about three minutes.  Another arrangement of the same melody is available in Three Harps Together. titled Bread of Angels.

The arrangement comes with separate copies for First Harp and Second Harp and an Ensemble Copy showing the two parts together.
