Description
In this arrangement of O Holy Night, Harp 1 and Harp 2 are best played on a pedal harp. Harp 3 can be played on a lever or pedal harp. The melody is played three times, and each harp part has a chance to play the melody. This beautiful Christmas song has been beloved for more than one hundred and fifty years. Legend has it that on Christmas Eve in 1871 during the Franco-Prussian War, a French soldier suddenly jumped out of his muddy trench, and standing, with no weapon in sight, he sang this song. After he finished all three verses, a German infantry man climbed out of his hiding place and answered with a German carol. The story goes that the fighting stopped for the next twenty-four hours, while the men on both sides observed a temporary peace in honor of Christmas day. Performance time for this arrangement of O Holy Night is about five minutes.
The arrangement comes with separate copies for First Harp, Second Harp, and Third Harp and an Ensemble Copy showing the three parts together.
