Description
Paul Rodney’s Calvary is a beautiful Easter Song that is very popular. There are three meaningful sections in the song. In this arrangement the first section is in the Key of D minor and 6/8 time, and each harp part is given a change to play part of the melody as well as arpeggio patterns and glissandos. The second section is in the Key of D major and 6/4 time, and is played with rolled chords for a stately feeling. The third section is in the Key of B-Flat and has a sense of momentum. The piece ends with a return to the second section, and brings the arrangement to a grand climax. Pedal harps are best used for Harp 1 and Harp 2, while Harp 3 could be played by a lever harp as well as a pedal harp. Performance time for Easter Song is five and a half minutes. This song is also available in Four Harps Together with the title Calvary’s Promise.
The arrangement comes with separate copies for First Harp, Second Harp, and Third Harp and an Ensemble Copy showing the three parts together.
