Sancta Dorothea, was composed in 1877 by Franz Liszt, who was renowned for his amazing piano playing, as well as his beautiful and unusual compositions. Here he expresses his religious feelings, inspired by Saint Dorothy. This piece is flowing and lyrical, beginning with triplet patterns which eventually support an elegant song-like melody. Harp 1 needs a pedal harp because of the prepared glissandos which climax the melody line twice. Harp 2 is best on a pedal harp, but Harp 3 can be played on a lever harp as well as a pedal harp, even though there are eight times when two levers or pedals need to be moved. Performance time for Sancta Dorothea is about three and a half minutes.
The arrangement comes with separate copies for First Harp, Second Harp, and Third Harp and an Ensemble Copy showing the three parts together.
