This exotic duet is sung in the first act of the opera Lakme, which premiered in Paris in 1883. It is sung by the characters Lakme and her servant Mallika as they go to gather flowers by a river. This lovely melody has been heard in films and also in television shows, including The Simpsons.

This arrangement can be played most easily by two pedal harps. There are two chromatic changes and lever harps can be used in the arrangement if there are slight modifications made. In the key of C, there is an A flat and a B flat change. In the key of A, there is an F natural and G natural change.
